Previous Events at The Garden Cafe and Trenance Heritage Cottages
Trenance Cottages have just finished their fabulous run of Santa's Grotto this year. A wonderful turnout and time had by all! We all look forward to welcoming Santa and his elves back next year!
We in the cafe have been busy getting into the festive spirit with all of our customers. Mince Pies, Rocky Road baubles, festive turkey pasties, chocolate orange cookies and brie toasties are just a few of our special things to eat, all to be puzzled down with a loaded festive hot chocolate or coffee!
Our lights will be on all the way up until Christmas, so pop down at the end of the day to see them and the cottages gorgeous outdoor Christmas tree and come and get cosy with us and a treat!
27th October 2024 - Halloween Lights, Dracula and Pumpkin Racing
The first of our light shows and daytime family friendly spooky fun as part of Spooky Newquay and the BeNewquay Festival.
Join Trenance Cottages on Sunday 27th October 2pm- 5pm for their non-scary Halloween afternoon
Entrance is £3 per child to include making a Halloween craft plus indoor games and activities. In addition, they will also have a ‘Where’s Dracula hiding’ raffle board at 50p a go and pumpkin races down the stream half hourly from 2.30pm to 4.30pm £1 per pumpkin
The new light display with spooky colours lighting up the cottages will be coming on at dusk (4.30ish) and the cafe has an all day BBQ and spooky cakes and drinks available all day until
7pm.

The day event runs from 2pm - 5pm
Cafe BBQ, Spooky Cakes and Drinks will be on until 7pm with the light display.
The lights will be on from 27th - 31st for this who wish to pop by and to give the valley a spooky Halloween feel.
22nd November 2024 - The Big Christmas Lights Switch in, Lantern Parade, Light Display and Performances - Trees and Tales Event
On Friday, November 22, from 5.30pm, the team at Newquay’s Trenance Cottages and Blystra Arts is hosting a celebration of the start of the festive season in a most magical and bedazzling way.
The lantern parade will lead the proceedings from Trenance car park at 5.30pm before making its way to Trenance Cottages in a dazzling display. This is the first time that Trenance has played host to the town’s popular lantern parade tradition in partnership with Blystra Arts. Hundreds of schoolchildren and members of the community are expected to partake to showcase their illuminated creations in a glowing trail of radiance.
The evening will continue with the grand Christmas Tree and display light switch on at 6.30pm which will light up the beautiful gardens including the foot bridge over the stream, the hedges, trees and and the façade of the heritage cottage itself.
From 6.30pm to 9pm, local performers and choir singers will deliver Christmas carols and live music. There will be stories regaled by local storytellers Rob Copeland and Kate Stebbing-Allen. The Award Winning Garden Cafe at Trenance Cottages will be serving up festive treats, cakes and drink throughout the evening.
Ahead of the lantern parade, Blystra Arts is running some drop-in craft sessions, where visitors can make some autumn crafts that can be taking to the lantern parade. Visitors can join the Jar Lantern & Autumn Craft workshop on Saturday, November 2 (10am to 3pm) on the Killarcourt or Willow Lantern Making workshop on Saturday, November 16 (10.30am to 3.30pm) at Trenance Heritage Cottages & The Garden Café.

Trenance Trees & Tales is part of the Be Newquay Festival.
It is commissioned by the Cornwall Council-led project, Experience Newquay.
